Product Description
Incognito is recognized as one of the best funk/jazz/soul/dance outfits in the world. A pioneer of the "acid jazz" movement who has delighted listeners and dancers for decades, Incognito has scored hits with versions of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" and Ronnie Laws' "Always There," selling more than a million records worldwide in the process.

Transatlantic RPM features some very special guests including Chaka Khan (on two tracks), Mario Biondi, the legendary Leon Ware, Al McKay of Earth Wind & Fire, Christian Urich of Tortured Soul, Ursula Rucker, and Los Angeles rapper Luckyiam. Also featured is a rare lead vocal performance from Bluey, who closes the album with "Tell Me What To Do."

5 out of 5 stars Fans of Incognito need to get this album!!!   September 7, 2010
Richard D. Womack (Chillicothe, OH)
If you've not heard of this group (and a lot of people outside of the UK haven't) or if you have heard of the group, this album is a must have. It reminds me a lot of their earlier work (Tribes, vibes and scribes and Positivity come to mind) and has been updated a ton with Chaka Khan and Leon Ware doing some guest work on the album. The arrangements are tight and has always been a staple of their work and believe me in hearing it you won't be disappointed. If there was such a thing as wearing out a CD, I would have done it on this one!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars [...] Review   September 5, 2010
Sandy Shore (Monterey, CA)
The definition of incognito is "to avoid notice or formal attention." Let me just say, that's not gonna happen here... ever. This Incognito is one of the best funk/jazz/soul bands on the Planet. The group has pioneered Acid Jazz... on their latest, TRANSATLANTIC RPM, the band takes it to yet another level in their illustrious career. With Star guests like Chaka Khan, Mario Biondi, Leon Ware, Al Mc Kay (EWF), LA rapper Luckiam, Maysa and a rare lead vocal from Bluey takes their signature sound to Funk Central. Formed in 1980 in London by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, Incognito has gone on to set the standard for the global dance scene and nu music fans alike. We're on "Let's Fall In Love Again," "Your Sun My Sky" and "Make Room For Love." This superb album will neither avoid notice or formal attention... in fact, we predict just the opposite! ~STEWART COXHEAD

5 out of 5 stars Another Great One   September 1, 2010
J. Verkuilen (New York, NY United States)
I really loved Tales from the Beach, but felt Bees was flat (see my reviews, if you care) compared to previous greats like Adventures. This outing is really great. I agree with the other reviewers, the first two tracks are relatively a bit weak, although Lowdown is of course a classic song and Everything That We Are is a change-up given the rap. This album has all the recording, arranging, playing, and so on you come to expect from Bluey and friends, essentially the quality playing you'd expect from a Dan album but with a whole lot more groove and none of the cynicism. I look to Incognito to propel me through my day and Transatlantic RPM does it admirably. It doesn't really break lots of new ground, though it changes things up enough not to stale, primarily by way of the presence of new voices. That's always really been the way of things. Incognito really is a band that evolves, not one that makes revolutionary changes.

Track Highlights: 1975 (though be sure to check out the live version on YouTube---lordy, lordy, is that powerful!), Tell Me What to Do, Your Sun My Sky.

Now if only they'd tour in the USA.... :)

2 out of 5 stars one of my less favorite albums by Incognito   August 2, 2010

I've listened to this cd many times; I think that this album suffers for a big lack on new ideas, and these songs (or at least many of them) are closer to commercial contemporary R&B, and are not similar to the glorius Incognito albums of the 90's; there's not sense of rhythm, I can't find here the groove and funk that made their past albums great; the special guests here (Mario Biondi and Chaka Khan, among the others) can't elevate this music to the glorius past of the group.

5 out of 5 stars Transition of Bluey's love for America!   August 1, 2010

Incognito has become what Earth, Wind & Fire used to be, a musical experience. "Bluey" gets to cook with the likes of Maysa, Chaka Khan, Leon Ware, Ursula Rucker, Mario Biondi and an assortment of others(Vanessa Haynes, Tony Momrelle & Joy Rose) he has kept in his ensemble. 5 stars is not enough for this outing. I absolutely love the flow of horns, strings, drums and REAL voices on my commute to and from work. Thanks "Bluey" & Co. You did it again!
