Album Description 2009 release, the third album from the Country favorite. Lambert, a two-time Grammy nominee has seen both of her previous albums debut at #1 on the Country Album Chart. Lambert wrote or co-wrote all but three of the 15 cuts on the album and worked with a cross-section of writers including Blake Shelton, Ashley Monroe, Natalie Hemby and Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley, who lends background vocals on 'Love Song.' Of the three songs Lambert did not write, she pulled from the best and her favorites - John Prine, Julie Miller, Allen Shamblin and Tom Douglas to complete the album.

Okay...I'm a fan September 3, 2010 A photographer (Planet Earth) After tiring of the current crop of country female vocalists all sounding like Martina McBride retreads, I had just about given up on new singers. On a whim, I bought this CD, expecting disappointment like always but willing to listen with an open mind. Well, now I'm a believer.
Miranda Lambert's sound is not out of the Nashville "cookie cutter" machine. Her songs have more of a traditional structure and her phrasing and presentation are refreshing. Not since the Dixie Chicks first couple of albums have I heard a female vocalist in the country genre step out of the herd. I was impressed enough to buy her two previous recordings, both of which confirm my first impression. The girl is good. The best new female country vocalist to date. Long may she sail.

Originally bought this album because of Miranda's recent hit, House that Built Me, and found out it to be a great album! Love her voice!

the house that built me July 23, 2010 R M Flaherty 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't hear enough of the song, The House that Built Me, it speaks directly to my heart about the house I grew up in in Illinois, now, at my mother's death, sold to strangers. It's a great CD.
Great for listening to over and over. July 7, 2010 J. Jackson (kansas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful album. I listen to it almost every day and the songs stay with me. The guitar work, the vocals, the lyrics-all top notch.
