Product Description Blood. Sweat. Tears. Rock-N-Roll. That's what Halestorm's made of. The band, guitarist Joe Hottinger, bassist Josh Smith, drummer Arejay Hale and singer/guitarist Lizzy Hale churn out uncompromising rock-n-roll anthems on their self-titled Atlantic debut. Drawing from an arsenal of songs that she's penned since she was 13, Lizzy examines love and life on the edge while casting a hypnotic spell on listeners. Drawing from influences as diverse as Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin, and Metallica, she has a dark sensuality that's undeniable. She exudes that feeling on stage and in the studio, because she's not afraid to be herself. She laughs, 'As a kid, when a lot of my friends were into Backstreet Boys, I attached myself to Alice Cooper, Cinderella, and Van Halen. I want to give the audience a ride and connect with them.' In the end, that philosophy will ensure Halestorm's longevity. 'This album has been a long time coming,' says Lizzy. 'There's been a lot of dirty work that went into making it. Creatively, we went to rock n roll college through the experience. It was crazy, raw, down and dirty'.

Good Old Hard Rock July 2, 2010 TurboNerd (Greenacres, FL United States) This is a very good band with a surprising sound for such young members. Lzzy is an excellent vocalist/guitarist. The rest of the band are also very talented. I find it surprising that in this day and age a young band like this actually plays good hard rock like it was meant to be.
I really like the CD and the songs are all good. I'll be listening to it regularly and anxiously awaiting their next album.
I think it's fairly obvious who wrote the lyrics for pretty much every song on the CD. It's like a diary of a young woman's love life. There is nothing wrong with that and the great, hard driving rock music behind the vocals really makes me like this band.
My one suggestion would be for someone besides Lzzy to write some of the songs on the next album and although writing songs about life is what most do, an entire album of songs about problems with your love life is a bit tedious.
Great job for a first album. Let's hear some new and hopefully more versatile stuff the next time around.
Halestorm rocks!
I Get Off on Halestorm! June 29, 2010 CharmedTree I fell in love with Halestorm when I first heard "I Get Off" on the radio. I was then lucky enough to see them in concert at a small club and I am happy to say they are just as good live as they are on the cd. They are true musicians who can rock!
HALESTORM June 13, 2010 Christina Franklin The most awesome CD.. Could not find this CD anywhere and AMAZON had it, at a really great price!!!
It surprises me... June 5, 2010 A. Gonzalez 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
how highly rated this album is. I'm not trying to be a jerk or a troll, but this album (in my opinion) is no where near a 5 star album. I'm not going to lie, I'm a big fan of female fronted metal/rock bands, but this album just didn't do anything for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is a bad album.... it's just an average album. With the high ratings I went into it expecting more. The band plays hard rock (attitude-rock). The band musically is talented. Nothing extraordinary, but talented. The vocals (which may be the biggest draw) are good, and for the most part go with the music. To me the weakest part of the CD is the lyrics. To me they are just to generic. The lyrics are mostly about relationships and have sexual overtones. Which seems to be a must for any attractive female rock singer. There seems to be several songs about her "not being the one".
I guess the lyrics and music are supposed to be fun, with a drink a beer rock n roll feel to it, but I'm not that into that. Another thing I just can't shake is that this CD has a very purposely commercial feel to it. Maybe even a little bit formulaic and compromised. This in the end to me is a 3-star album. I will be open to giving their next album a listen, but this album has not made me a fan.
Notable tracks: What Were You Expecting, Better Sorry Than Safe, Nothing To Do With Love
Amazing vocals May 22, 2010 Master of Fright (Frighttown, USA) First off, Lzzy Hale has got some amazing vocals going on. Shes probably one of my fave female vocalists now. This is a really great cd, but as someone else has stated, there are a lot of love/heartbreak type songs on it, which do tend to get old when its almost EVERY song on there. Other than that, this cd and band rocks. I like that she has a real rock n roll type voice. Stand out tracks: Its not you, Dirty Work, I Get Off, and the bonus track, Tell Me Where It Hurts.
