Album Description This Danish band formed in October 2001 by Michael Poulsen. Their musical style can be described as a combination of Hard Hitting Metallic Rock'n'roll with a touch of the sixties melodic tunes and Elvis. Their debut album "The Strength/The Sound/The Songs" from October 2005 put the band on the map immediately with rave reviews almost everywhere. Their live performances (Roskilde Festival, Rock Hard Festival etc. as well as the many club shows) built the band a loyal and constantly growing army of followers. This album is again produced by Jacob Hansen and has 11original songs all in the signature Volbeat sound. Very metal, very hard rocking and full of power and energy. They have succeeded in transforming the magic they have on stage onto a record. Volbeat are on the verge of their breakthrough in the metal scene and "Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil" is all what people are expecting it to be.

Elvis Metal Rulz!!! March 1, 2010 J. jablonski (Chicago,IL) I heard "Sad man's tongue" on the radio and just had to see what the rest of the album sounded like. I was not disappointed! These guys rock!!! Imagine Elvis singing for a metal group consisting of members of Metallica and Godsmack and you've got Volbeat!!! Check 'em out!!!!
A must buy January 30, 2010 S. R. Yarbrough (Chicago, IL) If you like Metallica and Social Distortion, I would HIGHLY recommend this band. Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil is their best album. These guys are amazing.
Awesome Sound! February 28, 2009 D. Speicher (Pennsylvania) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I heard Volbeat on Sirius for the first time back in January. I am completely into heavy/black/death/thrash metal, although i dabble in a little bit of everything. When I first heard VB, I have to admit that I was not sold. The second song I heard the last week of February was The Human Instrument. This song made me dive head first into what VB has to offer. A few days later I downloaded Rock the Rebel album and have been impressed ever since. I love the sound the group has. It's heavy yet has a punk blast feel to it on some songs. The track Sad Man's Tongue just kicks A$$ all the way. From the start of sounding like a country Elvis/Johnny Cash tune, to exploding with a kick-your-a$$ punk attitude and heavy-as-hell feel. You are missing some excellent music if you don't take the time to listen to Volbeat. They definitely have something to appease the metal palate.
Very disappointing album, but for a couple songs February 19, 2009 Chase Stout 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this album based on the song Mr. and Mrs. Ness, which rocks pretty hard. Every song on the album, with the exception of the above and one other, is retarded. It almost sounds like a joke. The guys voice is a mix between Danzig, Elvis, and Cher. No good
Best CD I've bought in a long time... February 10, 2009 I. J. Gilbert (Maine, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A friend of mine in Europe gave me a link to a youtube video of their song, Garden's Tale. Wow! It was a great song, and one the strength of that one song, I bought the album; and I was not disappointed. This is a great collection of songs. Volbeat is hard to define - they are just not "a danish metal band" - their sound can't be that easily categorized. Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devils songs really do express a multitude of genres. If you read about them, you'll hear that they say their influences range from rockabilly to Metallica, and Elvis. At first read you'd think their music would be a horrible melange of sounds; but they make it completely work. Volbeat isn't afraid to throw some change-ups in their lineup, but really there isn't a single song on this album that I don't like. They are all good. If I have one complaint is that after listening to this album I went out and bought their other two, but had to pay a premium as their are not available direct from Amazon.
