Now 32 April 24, 2010 J. Holmberg Very happy with CD as I usually am when I order things directly thru amazon :)
Nice February 3, 2010 R. HASSMANN (Phoenix AZ) This CD is as good as the "now" cd's usually are. I love the variety and so do my children.
CD for My Brother January 31, 2010 Chris Y. Cummings (Lancaster, PA) This CD shipped very quickly and I got it at a good price. The CD completes my brothers Now CD collection. Thanks.
Also too many skippers for an almost senior citizen January 1, 2010 Judy K. Polhemus (LA) "NOW That's What I Call Music 32" is another winner, overall, in the NOW series. But why wouldn't it be? The NOW CDs include top hits of the day. What determines top hits? Sales! By definition then, the NOW series SHOULD be a winner.
However, judging by other reviews, I am not the only one who finds this CD less than perfect (or even close). Having said that, I will say that I like as many songs (for an almost senior citizen) as I did for NOW 30 (which I also reviewed). Note: I skipped purchase of 31 because I didn't like enough songs to make a purchase worthwhile for me.
NOW 32 contains these winners (for me):
"I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas (a shocker because I thought BEP was solely rap/hip hop. This song has melody! and a variety of styles within one song.
"LoveGame" by Lady Gaga--Ho boy, a vulgar song but a great head banging rhythm.
"Down" by Jay Sean featuring Lil Wayne
"Obsessed" by the excellent Mariah Carey
"Knock You Down" by Keri Hines featuring Kanye West and NE-YO
"Say Hey (I Love You)" by Michael Franti and Spearhead--I love this happy, romantic song!
"She Wolf" by Shakira--I bought this CD for this song. Shakira was on the Letterman Show recently and talked about what she does with some of the money she makes. She funds education in her home country of Colombia. A beautiful, young woman.
"You Belong to Me" by Taylor Swift--I didn't get the big deal over this singer until she hosted "Saturday Night Live" recently. I rarely watch--almost never--that show any more, but just happened on it during her host time. In all the years I watched the program (in the heydays), her hosting was one of the very best. She sang a song as her monologue and tucked into it jabs at Kanye West and Joe, the boyfriend, who broke up with her in a public way (I've forgotten the details). I was taken with her demeanor and style and wry humor. She was also excellent in her skits.
I really tried to like Keith Urban's song (because Nicole Kidman married the singer, giving him credence in my mind), but the song is just too country-ish in wording. Nice voice, though.
The rest are skippers for this senior citizen!
But look how many songs are winners! In the words of a former favorite student: "But that's just me!"
Surprising December 30, 2009 KAT (UMF) I liked more of the songs on the CD than I thought I would. The series hasn't been as good recently, but this one redemed itself.
